How do I run Roll Call Attendance reports for my course?
Canvas recently introduced a new page design called the New Canvas User Interface (UI). Depending on your Canvas view, your page design may vary from the images shown in this lesson. However, the functionality and location of the components remain the same.
You can run reports to review attendance data for your students. This report is sent to your email, where it can be downloaded as a CSV file.
Reports are delivered in a comma separated value (CSV) format and displays all content in a list. Reports always include the following data fields: Course ID, SIS Course ID, Course Code, Course Name, Teacher ID, Teacher Name, Student ID, Student Name, Class Date, Attendance, and Timestamp.
You can generate reports for the entire course, or you can generate reports based on specific students or courses. To locate a student or course ID, view the People page. The student SIS ID will be listed in the table. The course ID will be in the browser URL (e.g. courses/XXXXXX/users/XXX).
Note: Roll Call Attendance Badges are not included in reports.
Specify Report Data
You can specify criteria for your report. If you leave the fields blank, the report will be generated for the entire course.
You can choose a date range for the report . You can also optionally filter by SIS Student ID .
By default, the email field will be populated with your email address to send the report. Confirm your email in the field or enter a new email address.
Check your email for a message with the subject Roll Call Attendance Report. The email contains a link where you can access your attendance report for the next 24 hours. When you click the link, you will be prompted to open or save the CSV file that contains your report results. This report will be available for 24 hours.
