How do I suspend or reactivate users in an account?
Updated on: Oct 08, 2024
You can suspend and reactivate a user's profile. Suspending a user allows you to remove the user's login access to authorized systems. Reactivating a user allows the user to log into Canvas and regain access to previously authorized API integrations. Notes: User suspension and reactivation is also supported in the SIS Export report. Users with multiple pseudonyms will continue to receive notifications unless all pseudonyms are suspended. Only root account admins can view and manage suspensions. Suspending a student does not affect the student's Canvas enrollment status. Suspending a student will block their login on the mobile app, but won't log them out if they're already signed in. To prevent user access to Canvas, their sessions must be terminated via the API, requiring them to log in to Canvas on any web browsers and re-authorize any third-party apps (including the Canvas Mobile app). Access tokens for the app must be removed from the user's Approved Integrations. You can manage API access tokens from your User Settings.
