How do I use, add, and configure product tags?
Tags help with searching, labeling, and managing other metadata. You can use tags to search for a product category or a product with a particular attribute.
There are two types of tags in LearnPlatform: system and custom tags. Custom tags are the ones that your organization creates, while system tags are the ones that LearnPlatform creates and assigns to products. However, regardless of the type, you get to determine what is associated with a product in your organization.
In the search boxes in the Management tab, the product library, and the Public Product Library (PPL), searching the tag name shows products associated with that tag, as well as any products whose name includes the tagged word.
Notes:
- To manage product tags, you need to have an Organization Administrator role.
- You can learn about best practices for custom tags.
Search Products Using Tags
In the Management tab, the product library, and the Public Product Library (PPL), enter the tag name in the Search field [1]. The search results display as you type [2]. This includes products associated with that tag, as well as any products whose name includes the tagged word.
Add Tag
Click the Settings tab [1], then click the Tags, Filters & Lists tile [2].
By default, the Tags tab displays [1]. To add a new tag, click the Add Tag button [2].

Enter the tag in the Tag Name field [1]. By default, the tag visibility is set to public. You can select the appropriate visibility setting:
- Admin Only [2] is limited to admin pages. When you search for your tag on other pages, the tagged results do not display. This is useful for behind-the-scenes metadata or process markers like Pending Privacy Review.
- Internal [3] is visible to educators, but not in the Public Product Library (PPL). This is useful for internal codes like Level 3 Support.
- Public [4] displays results across the entire product, including the PPL.
To create the tag, click the Add button [5].
Edit Tag
To edit a tag, click the Edit icon [1]. You can edit the tag name [2] and visibility [3]. To save the changes, click the Update button [4].
Delete Tag
To delete a tag, click the Delete button [1]. If the tag is actively a part of a product or other feature, a warning displays. To confirm deletion, click the Yes, delete button [2].

System tags cannot be removed, but they can be hidden.

Note: You can also hide a tag in Product Settings.

Badges are images associated with tags that appear in special places across the platform.
To add a badge to a tag, in the Badge column, click the Add Image icon [1]. If there's an existing badge for the tag and you want to replace it, click the image [2].

You can also add a badge description [4]. To save the badge, click the Add button [5].
Note: The image file must be JPG or PNG and less than 1MB.
Select Badge from Image Library

A badge preview displays [3]. You can change the badge color in the Colors section [4], and add a badge description [5]. To save the badge, click the Add button [6].

Assign Tags to Product
To assign tags to a product, click the Management drop-down menu [1], and select the Products option [2]. Locate the product and click the product link [3]. Alternatively, you can click the Options menu [4], and then click the Edit link [5].
Locate the Tags section.
In the System Tags row, tags created and assigned to the product by LearnPlatform display. Tags hidden by your organization are grayed out [1]. To hide other visible tags, click the Eye icon [2].
In the Custom Tags row, you can add tags that your organization created and any system tags available that LearnPlatform has not associated with the product. To add a tag, click the Select Tags drop-down menu [3]. You can enter the tag name [4], or select from the list [5].
Some custom tags might belong to a single select tag group. These groups only allow one of the member tags to be assigned to a product. This is indicated by an S icon [8]. When you assign a tag from one of these tag groups, any tags from that same tag group is removed from the tool.
To remove a custom tag, click the Remove icon [6].
To save the tag(s), click the Save Settings button [7].
Notes:
- You cannot delete a system tag but you can hide it.
- Any system tag that was hidden in the Configure Tag Settings page do not display in the System Tags row nor in the Custom Tag row's Select Tags drop-down menu.
- Hiding the system tag removes products from any search based on that tag.
Manage Tags with Tag Groups
To allow administrators to add or remove tags for products using a tag-type custom column, you can create a tag group. Once the tag group is created, you can use it to create a custom column in the Management Product Library.
