How do I find and follow a group or hub in the Instructure Community?
In the Instructure Community, interest groups and hubs provide a place for users to interact and collaborate with other members of the Community.
Notes:
- To participate in groups, you must first log in with Canvas or Mastery Connect. Learn more about joining the Community without a Canvas account.
- After the migration to vanilla, you do not have the option to join a group or hub, but you can follow and still create new posts.
Open Groups
In the Navigation menu, hover over the Groups tab [1], or click it to view a full list of all groups.
The Groups menu displays a list of Interest Groups and Feature User Groups [2]. To select a group or hub, click a name link [3].
Locate a Group or Hub
The Groups page displays My Groups [1] and All groups [2] sorted alphabetically. Scroll through the list to locate a group. Then, to view more information about the group, click the group tile [3].
Follow Group Content
On the group's page, view Group Content section [1] and click the Notification button to follow the group's boards [2].
Open Group Board
Another way to follow a group is to open the Blog, Discussions, or Resources tile of your chosen group.
Follow Group Board
On the selected tile's page, click the Follow button.
Note: Following through Group Content or the group board works the same.
View Notification Preferences
To view Notification Preferences, click the Follow or Following button [1].
Select the checkboxes [2] to enable popup notifications [3] and email notifications [4].
View My Groups
To view your followed groups, click the Groups tab [1] and view My Groups [2].
