00:07: How do I set usage rights and user access for a file or folder?

00:12: In Course Navigation, click the Files link.

00:15: To manage an individual file or folder, locate the file or folder's line

00:20: item and then click the Usage Rights icon.

00:23: Alternatively, you can click the File Options icon and then select the Manage

00:28: Usage Rights option.

00:30: To manage multiple files or folders, click the checkboxes next to the files

00:34: or folders you wish to manage.

00:37: In the toolbar, click the Options icon and then select the Manage Usage Rights option.

00:43: In the Usage Rights drop-down menu, select one of the following five usage

00:47: rights. I hold the copyright: File contains original content

00:51: created by you. I have obtained permission to use this

00:55: file: File has authorized permission by the author.

00:59: The material is in the public domain: Material is explicitly assigned

01:04: to public domain, cannot be copyrighted or is no longer protected

01:08: by copyright. The material is subject to an exception.

01:12: (e.g. fair use, the right to quote, or others

01:16: under applicable copyright laws): The file is an excerpt or summary

01:20: used for commentary, news, reporting research or analysis

01:24: in education. The material is licensed under Creative

01:28: Commons: This option also requires setting a specific Creative Commons license.

01:34: If known, enter the copyright holder information in the Copyright Holder field.

01:39: To apply the changes, click the Save button.

01:43: By default, the file is unpublished. To set the availability of an

01:47: individual file or folder, locate the file or folder's line item and

01:51: then click the Status icon.

01:53: Alternatively, you can click the File Options icon and then select the

01:58: Edit Permissions option.

02:00: In the Available drop-down menu, you can publish or unpublish the file or folder.

02:06: If you wish to restrict the file or folder, select the Only available with link
