How do I use IgniteAI Summaries for Discussions as an instructor?

IgniteAI Summaries for Discussions use a Generative AI model to provide summaries of the main points, questions, and ideas in a discussion thread.

If your admin enabled and locked the feature, you cannot disable IgniteAI Summaries for Discussions in a course. If enabled and unlocked, you can manage the feature preview at the course level.

If your user interface displays differently, the feature has not been enabled at your institution. To learn more about the feature preview, ask questions, or comment on functionality, navigate to the IgniteAI Summaries for Discussions user group.

Open the discussion thread you want to view.

In the discussion topic, click the Open Summary button.

You can specify which topics to focus on [1]. Then, click the Summarize button [2].

The discussion summary displays [3]. You can also see how many summaries you have generated for the day [4]. The maximum number of summary generations allowed per user per day is 25.

To rate the summary, click either the Like or Dislike icon [4].
